In 2022, South Whitehall Township completed a Park Master Plan for the proposed 25.7-acre Kohler Ridge Park. This proposed park concept would be centered around nature, ecology, heritage, and the history of the Township.
The Park Master Plan was completed by a project team led by Omnes Studio, a landscape architecture, planning, and art studio based in Easton, PA. Omnes has experience in large park planning and creative community engagement that helped them articulate the needs of South Whitehall Township with the goals of this nature-based park. The rest of the project team included ETM Associates for public space management recommendations and Dharam Consulting for cost estimating services.
This Park Master Plan included extensive public engagement over the past several years to develop a vision that is unique to South Whitehall and was embraced by the community (in accordance with the feedback and input received during the public engagement process).
The Kohler Ridge Park Master Plan represents a conceptual vision for a nature-based community park in South Whitehall Township. At this time, the project is not yet in development and does not have a dedicated source of funding. In order to bring this plan to reality, Township officials will need to explore and pursue alternative sources of funding, such as grants, partnerships, and other opportunities. The completion of the Master Plan provides a strong foundation for future efforts if/when resources become available.
