Get Hooked at the Annual Youth Fishing Derby!  

SWT Recreation's Annual Free Youth Fishing Derby is a community favorite! A section of the Jordan Creek in Covered Bridge Park will be stocked with trout and blocked off for this event. This is a FRIENDLY Competition Tournament, intended for Youth 15 yrs or younger who are participating to have fun and learn more about fishing! 

Do you own a local Fishing or Sporting Business or know someone who does? Don't miss this Event & chance to Promote your business or organization to hundreds of local fishing families while helping your community at the same time! Last year, we had 180 Registrants, and over 100 braved the chilly weather with us! 2025 Fishing Derby Recap:

Thank you to our 120+ registrants and their family members who made our Fishing Derby a success again this year! The weather was gorgeous, and we had a blast watching all the young anglers fish and weight what they caught. Along with their free registration, participants received several giveaways including some breakfast snacks and some rubber bait. We finished our event by announcing the Trophies and Prize Winners, then Kona Ice stopped by! Below are the Big Winners from the 2025 SWT Youth Fishing Derby!

Derby Rules & Guidelines:

• Saturday, May 10, 2025 from 9:00am-12:00pm at Covered Bridge Park (Pavilion #2)
  • We are moving from April to May in hopes of warmer weather!
  • Rain Date Sunday, May 11 (used for extreme rain only)
• Food trucks vary each year. 
• SWT will stock this particular section of the creek with trout in addition to any stocking done by the state.
  • We have purchased beautiful Trout from Green-Walk Hatchery for the last two years.
• Participation is FREE but you must Register.

  • Drop-In the morning of the event between 8am- 9am and register in-person.
• Participants must bring their own fishing gear and bait.
• Prizes will be awarded for the heaviest catch in each age group!
